Daffodil Day is on again this Friday the 27th of August!

Two of our very own designers Akira Isogawa and Arthur Galan alongside six others – Bettina Liano, Camilla Franks, Gail Elliott, Jason Grech, Jayson Brunsdon and Rachel Gilbert – have designed yellow fashion pieces to raise funds for the Cancer Council and cancer research.

You can vote for your favourite design to win a $1000 Mimco voucher. Add a $10 donation along with your vote and you could find yourself the new owner of your favourite designer’s item!

Chocolate that tastes doubly good…

So we don’t need another excuse to eat chocolate…but here’s another one for the contingency list anyway! Cacao Fine Chocolates are offering two of their artisan chocolates in an adorable gift box with all proceeds going to the Starlight Children’s Foundation (who help seriously sick kids and their families). So can we tempt you with a coconut spiked ganache, a coffee caramel “enrobed” in milk chocolate or a cointreau infused truffle about now?

The Dressing Room is open!

In 2002 Belinda Vugdelija opened The Dressing Room boutique in Melbourne.

Now the Dressing Room has launched its first flagship store at Melbourne’s GPO which is open NOW.

The boutique supports a range of emerging Australian designers and labels like Tali Roth, Violet and I, Born 1986, Turista and Dhalia.

Introducing Sunglasses by Mimco

The future’s so bright, we’ve got to wear (Mimco) shades. For the first time ever Mimco, headed up by creative director Cathryn Wills, will introduce a range of sunglasses to their line of luxury fashion accessories. The range has been described as a “natural progression” for the label and initially features 12 styles. Each frame is created in two colours options; classic black, tortoiseshell and neutrals. Mimco’s sunnies will arrive in July.

Willow & Dorryce Rock art collaboration

Designer Kit Willow has recently undertaken a collaboration with Australian artist Dorryce Rock to present a new collection of works representative of Willow’s current ‘Eclipse’ range. Kit says Dorryce’s “clever works have been specially commissioned, creating an inspiring and unique backdrop for the fashion collection.”

Looking at Dorryce’s work we imagine an oceanic theme; mother of pearl, fluorescent jelly fish, seaurchins or simply foamy sea water. The hues present in Willow’s collection are what inspired Roc’s pieces most of all; “The black gives it strength and drama, red and poison warmth and passion and the nude, the soft femininity. I love how the colours “eclipse‟ and work with one another”, explains the artist.

Expect Dorryce Rock pieces to appear at Willow (on our ground floor) in late July or early August. The works will be present for several months and will be available to purchase. Currently on display are eerie bushfire photographs by John Gollings.

Gorman Summer Sneak Peek

It won’t arrive in stores for a while, but we have a sneak peek for you of Gorman’s next colour-drenched Spring Summer collection. Superstar-model-in-the-making Samantha Harris was literally spotted in a polkadot organic cotton sundress. Big bow headbands and candy-hued prints have us dreaming of summer already.

Fleur Wood Arrives!

We’ve been looking forward to Fleur Wood’s arrival for a little while and are pleased to announce her latest boutique has just opened late last week on the ground floor. Stepping into the space you are introduced to a sense of whimsy through vintage mirrors and busily printed wallpaper. Sorbet-hued soaps in the shapes of pistols, desirable porcelain objects and, naturally, the label’s latest fashion collection combine to create a kind of off-beat wonderland. We’ve already had some high profile guests take a peek at the new boutique, so we’d love to introduce you to Fleur soon too. Here is a taste of what you will discover.

Once there was a man named Tim. For over 15 years he created things of beauty to make women feel even more beautiful. He opened stores up and down the east coast. More recently he has prefered to work with hues of cheery aqua, canary yellow, feathers and burnished gold beading. Now Tim O’Connor has set up shop at Melbourne’s GPO and is bringing that beauty to the city.

The latest addition we are welcoming into our stellar designer line-up is Lisa Taranto. The Melbourne label’s pop-up boutique opens tonight! Launching with her moody Autumn Winter 2010 collection entitled ‘The Fallen’ you are invited to come along and peruse her designs with a glass of champagne in hand. We can already tell you her ‘Tilly Petal Mini Coat’ and ‘Cindy Petal Caplet Dress’ are simply begging to be tried on.
