Alongside being a successful author, actor and screenplay writer, John Clarke is one of Australia’s most enduring satirists.
He is best known for 20 years of sketch comedy interviews in which he plays newsworthy figures in his personal dry style being interviewed by a harried Bryan Dawe. Beginning in 1989 on radio, the interviews soon made the move to become a beloved regular feature of ABC’s The 7.30 Report.
A new DVD box set of three discs has now been released, entitled The Full Catastrophe, which is a retrospective capturing the last two decades of the most popular interviews. John has also found fans more recently with the series The Games which poked fun at SOCOG during the 2000 Sydney Olympics with tongue firmly planted in cheek.
John Clarke will be visiting Melbourne’ GPO to sign copies of his new box set so here’s your chance to meet one of our greatest wits.
