There are still plenty of opportunities to see Melbourne’s GPO designers during the 2010 L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival. Or you could join our online treasure hunt and win money-can’t-buy tickets to our VIP parade. Below are other ways that you can see our in-house labels all throughout LMFF.
Fat presents complexgeometries in a yurt
The crew at Fat with set up a traditional Mongolian Yurt as a pop-up store  to showcase and sell a Canadian label called complexgeometries. Find the collection entitled “Perpetual Leisure” at the Old Melbourne Gaol/RMIT Alumni Court complex at 377 Russell Street. The Yurt will be open from 11am until 5pm from Tuesday 16th to Saturday 20th March.
Grossi Florentino presents Dress the Palate
On Wednesday 10th March from 7pm to 11pm, Guy Grossi will design and host a dinner that take a look at trends in food and fashion in eating at a special dinner. Our own Leona Edmiston will also be creatively involved in the event.
Window Shopping: the Curator’s View
This special event is part of the ’til you drop: Shopping – a Melbourne History exhibition at the State Library of Victoria. Curator Jane Rhodes will take you on a journey through the exhibition. Sessions are on Tuesday 16th, Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th of March from 12.30pm to 1pm.
LifewithBird presents The Unknown
To celebrate the opening of LifewithBird’s flagship store right here on Level 1 (take the elevator) at Melbourne’s GPO, artist Britt Salt has created sculptures that will be on display in the new space. Visit the exhibition of works and the new store from Thursday 11th to Thursday 18th March.
Cafe Society Photography exhibition
Each year Sanpellegrino challenges RMIT photography students to capture Melbourne’s Cafe Society in pictures. This year was extra special as the competition was themed around fashion. The photograph of our Federal Coffee Palace won! To see the rest of the works visit Level 1 of Southgate in Southbank from Friday12th to Tuesday 23rd March.
iSpyStyle Fashion Career Workshop
Want to forge a career in any aspects of fashion? Then take a look at these workshops featuring Australia’s leading lights in all aspects of fashion from the business end to the creative. Mimco’s Creative Director Cathryn Wills is just one of the speakers to share their successful career secrets. Two different sessions are to be held on Saturday 13th March.
