An ancient Japanese technique, Mokume-gane features distinctive layered patterns made with mixed-metal laminate. Translating as “wood-grain metal”, the style comes in a number of different colour combinations, each containing sterling silver and different colours of gold. As the jeweller works with it, the different layers come to the surface, creating a wood grain effect. Each ring is completely different, and the patterns unique.
