From the outset, the muse for Lisa Taranto‘s Winter 2010 collection ‘The Fallen’ may not be so obvious. The inspiration for the collection is 60′s style icon Talitha Getty.
While other designers who may choose the fated actress would stick to the boho-chic aesthetic she became renowned for Taranto has taken a more abstract view. Instead this collection is one of dichotomies, looking at the duality of Getty, her light public persona and the darkness that would be her downfall.
For Taranto and her design partner Lea Oldjohn, this translates to black vs. white and minimal, hard lines vs. dramatically soft, tear-drop, ruffles. Wavy black and white prints add visual relief. Overall, this collection is enveloped by a tumultuous mood of contrasting elements.
