Harrods welcomes Acne

Have you visited our Acne boutique yet? You may have noticed it is a work of art in itself, let alone what treasures you may discover among the racks and on the shelves.

Joining us in welcoming Acne to the family is iconic London department store Harrod’s who have just celebrated the opening of their own Acne space instore. The recent Icelandic volcano tried its furious best to keep guests at bay but that didn’t deter the champagne reception from reportedly being a sparkling affair. Jewellery designer Husam El Odeh, who collaborated with Acne on their famous armoured jeans, was the guest of honour. A retrospective exhibition of his work marked the occasion. We love to peek at how our international friends throw a soiree. So here are a handful of snaps courtesy Acne causing us to add another “must shop here” stop to our future London visits…

Known primarily for their fashion pieces, cult-label Acne also have a tendency to extend their wings in other creative outlets. Rather than simply create a lookbook each season, the label often creates cinematic showcases of their new collections. If you follow fashion you may recall Australian-turned-Parisian designer Michelle Jank created a short film for their Spring Summer 2010 range.

A few months back Andreas Larssen directed a rather sensual film for Acne’s Autumn Winter 2010 collection. It is an overtly sexualised take on the love of denim and self. However, today we are more interested in being voyeuristic when it comes to fashion so we thought we’d show you their more traditional Autumn Winter presentations and behind the scenes at London Fashion Week…

Spotting Starlets in Acne Denim

Our friends at Acne have been pleased to spy some very well known faces (and bodies) sporting pieces from their own collections lately.

At the recent London Fashion Week, model and “best dressed” list regular Alexa Chung sported Acne’s ‘Soldier’ denim shirt. Sitting front row at the House of Holland show with Pixie Geldof, Chung kept to her signature cool style by wearing the piece that is actually part of Acne’s men’s line.

And this next lovely needs no introduction. Songstress Kylie Minogue ducks out from her London residence and is prepared for just about anything the day may throw at her in the label’s amazing ‘Armour’ jeans.

Striking a balance between smart and casual is a talent these two lads below have in common. Denim jeans are an old faithful in the casual department, yet with a lean fit and a dark wash they are easy to dress up with a blazer and crisp white shirt – no tie necessary! Cooler than thou shades mandatory.
