Remember that Sony Bravia television ad where they bounced thousands of brightly coloured balls down the hill of San Francisco? Well Acne has recently presented a more lo-fi, whimsical take on this theme with this video for their Men’s Spring Summer 2010 underwear campaign.

Here Karen Millen’s creative director Gemma Metheringham takes a look at the UK label’s Autumn Winter 2010 collection. She describes it as minimal, relaxed and her favourite collection so far.

Here model Nika displays how to layer a look with Metalicus‘ first Summer collection with the help of Fashion TV.

A leather jacket is staple in many a fashionable wardrobe. From cropped to trench to biker, the leather jacket is a highly versatile and can give an edge to the frilliest of frocks. Add in other touches of leather if you really want to toughen up your look, perhaps in a bag, watch or flats or even a cuff. Just make sure you don’t go overboard and end up looking like the biker from the Village People.

A little temptation today for the many men and women out there whose weakness is shoes. We are travelling the spectrum today; with a men’s boot in earthy suede that is certainly made for walking contrasted with this, to use an overused yet apt phrase, “killer heel” that won’t get you far but does command attention. For a similar look for men keep an eye out for Acne’s Desert High boot in brown suede, a classic. Ladies might like to check what Karen Millen have on their shelves and be a bit subtler with this Diamond Court heel or go the whole hardware route with this pair of S tud and Eyelet peep toes.

We love that at this time of year you can add a dash of sparkle and even a little kitsch to your festive ensemble and no-one will bat an eyelid. We adore this Alice dress from nicolangela (it’s reminiscent of candy canes). We’ve paired it with silver accessories; a triangle stone bracelet from Karen Millen, Thumbelina ballet flats from Mimco and Beautiful Round Brilliant drop earrings from Secrets Shhh – though gold would work just as well. A Commes De Garcons leather zip pouch from Fat adds an element of luxury.

Ban the black and rejoice in block colours. Sticking to secondary hues rather than primary colours and adding soft brown leather accents elevates the look from rainbow bright to daytime elegant. Into the Wild with Karen Millen

We had only just celebrated the resurgence of a chic safari trend for the summer ahead in our regular Weekend Style column when Karen Millen appeared to offer up their own version of safari luxe. Safari and tribal trends are a recurring theme in fashion and can look quite classic – think crisp white shirts, earthy tones and carefully considered prints.

To get that out of Africa look from their Spring Summer 09 collection, without looking too wild, Karen Millen suggests we “try the bold colour block shift dress, or again think separates and wear the colour block pencil skirt with a structured waistcoat or jacket and a belt to focus on the waist”.

Pleated and pegged fronts are the new shape in pants but can be tricky for those of us are are concerned with out hips. They tell us not to worry about the added volume from these shapes that, “the wide fitted waistband makes the shapes ultra-flattering. Wear them with the suede platform gladiator sandal in khaki or black. Our favourite summer daywear sandal as it’s not too high!”
