Camper Autumn Winter 2010

With each new season at Camper we can’t help but break into smiles. They always seem to inject such a sense of whimsy and personality into their footwear designs, with the adult range sharing in quirky details almost as much a their children’s shoes. This Autumn Winter season sees Camper taking full advantage of the chunkier heels showing on runway with plenty of comfy wedges and the stylishly-squat, asymmetrical, block heels as seen in their ‘Rachel’ style (our favourite). The ‘Ariadna’ shoe stands out as a combination of jazz-age styling and wicked witch of the west chic in its layered black and white combo. While the ‘Imar’ sneaker injects the colour of the season – purple – into the collection in soft suede. We also love the ‘Oscar’ shoe for men; a chic alternative to the brogue, its shaded panels add interest without getting straying into the “not safe for business meetings” territory. And of course the ‘Twins’ styles return for the young and young at heart – with butterflies, bows, musical notes and creatures to make you giggle every time you look down at your own two feet.

A little temptation today for the many men and women out there whose weakness is shoes. We are travelling the spectrum today; with a men’s boot in earthy suede that is certainly made for walking contrasted with this, to use an overused yet apt phrase, “killer heel” that won’t get you far but does command attention. For a similar look for men keep an eye out for Acne’s Desert High boot in brown suede, a classic. Ladies might like to check what Karen Millen have on their shelves and be a bit subtler with this Diamond Court heel or go the whole hardware route with this pair of S tud and Eyelet peep toes.

So the colour experts at Pantone have declared 2010 to be the year that Turquoise will reign! The colour is where blue meets green, reflected in the ocean and tropical skies and naturally in the precious stone of the same name. The colour is said to be fresh while also being calming. One of the easiest ways to quickly update your wardrobe is to inject a dash of the hue of the moment so we’ve scoured the stores to select a few turquoise pieces.

Summer means that it is time to inject some juicy, cheery colours into our outfits, even for after five events. Now while we don’t suggest you dress in it from head to toe; an injection of peach, guava or coral into your outfit can be an homage to that perfect summer sunset hue. We think men who know how to pull off a brown shoe (figuratively speaking), whether leather or suede, really know their stuff. Brown used to be the shoe colour du jour but now it seems that prizing some people out of basic black shoes or sneakers is a tricky task. The examples below show you how to wear them well. Wear co-ordinating socks or none at all, keep footwear clean and/or shiny, and to avoid looking old fashioned or dowdy make sure the rest of your outfit is neat and tailored. Easy!
