The space has been transformed into a worldly themed pop-up with the helping hand of Limedrop’s crafty friends at Moth Design. Articles of men’s and women’s clothing hang from pale grained timber, a map has been pasted and transformed into a feature backdrop and miniature succulent plants in pots are dotted around the store for refreshing greenery.

Find Limedrop jewellery and their latest collection “Places I’ve Never Been” (and sometimes the charming Nathan and Clea themselves) in store now. Limedrop will be with us for a limited time only until January 2010.

New generation polka dots recall the award-winning black and lemon spotted outfit that helped nicolangëla take out the Fashions on the Field Designer Award last year. Apparently it was a champagne inspired print – it reminded us of wattle blooms – either way it was fitting for Spring. Perhaps spots are an option for our trackside outfits again this year? Here, they come in several forms; in the high-waisted ‘Zoe’, the ‘Isabella’ shift, and the gathered halterneck of the ‘Mary’ dresses. These are created in a pretty chocolate and dusty pink combo (hello, Oaks Day) or the classic black and white (hello, Derby Day).

We have two favourite frocks in particular that just can’t be separated. The ‘Angelina’ tea length frock features delicious frilled tiers of tulle, without going over the top frou frou. We’ll take one in the lemon butter hue please. It would be perfect to swan around in at the Tatts Cox Plate (luckily it arrives on shelves in October!) Our other new object of lust is the red and white candy striped ‘Alice’ dress. Imagine matching it with a pair of kicky kitten heels, a slash of red lippy and a martini glass ‘Mad Men’ style. This retro style features a bow and key hole behind just begging for a sneakily well-placed hand on the lower back to guide you through the party crowd.

Enjoy exclusive front row seating at Melbourne’s GPO Fashion at Altitude Shows where narration, fashion and music will come together to reveal the inspiration behind labels such as Wayne Cooper, Lisa Ho, Akira, Leona Edmiston and Arthur Galan AG, amongst many others.

Our good friend and master milliner Paris Kyne will be providing the requisite head wear for the parades – if you like the look of those he has a boutique at Shop 6, Village Way Arcade, 501 Toorak Road in Toorak.

As part of Spring Fashion Week, Melbourne’s GPO is also offering fashion drawing classes with the Whitehouse Institute of Design, massage classes for you and your partner, and in-store designer appearances and special shopping offers between 10am – 8pm on Wednesday, 2 September.

Painter James Morrison has a way with colour. He also has a way of painting the Australian landscape (among others – we’re sure we spotted a tiger somewhere) so that it transforms into something exotic and vibrant, rather than dull and parched. There is no camouflage going on around here. He usually sticks to oil paintings on canvas but now the Melbourne based artist has the female body as his new muse.

Morrison and Gorman have collaborated to bring us this series entitled ‘Elizabeth’ (from the artist’s 2007 work of the same name); featuring Morrison’s entrancing prints on a range of Gorman’s relaxed pieces for Spring Summer. The designs themselves are quite minimalistic so as best to show off the artist’s wild imaginings. They have managed to create lively, statement pieces. The ‘Elizabeth’ series is strictly a limited edition run, numbered and each item is unique so you had better get in quick if you like the idea of being a walking landscape or gallery.

And those shoes too! Oops, falling in love again.
