Yesterday Zimmermann showcased their upcoming Spring Summer 2010/11 collection at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week. Their signature prints and pastel colour palette were teamed with a bold, rich face that focussed on the lips. MAC artist Linda Jefferyes came up with the look and we’ve got her to fill you in on how to recreate it at home below. We think it’s darkly seductive and perfect for this winter season rather than the next!

Face Prep + prime skin, prep + prime lip filler, face & body foundation, set powder invisible and porcelain. Select Moisture Cover in light colours. Contour face with sculpting powder pro palette bone beige and shaping powder Lightsweep.

Eyes Brow set clear, Impeccable Brow Pencil, Taupe Eyeshadow, Black Dirty Blonde. Pro long Lash barelash.

Lips Lipmix Burgundy and I mixed some red into the plum Lipmix which made it more red/plum.

Leona Edmiston was fashionably early and showcased her upcoming (and brilliant) Spring Summer 2010/11 collection before the hullabaloo of Rosemount Australian Fashion Week sets in. The dreamy range transports us to swanning around the deck of a luxury cruise liner back in their heyday with a long island iced tea in one hand and a cabana boy on the other. Movie star sunglasses, coconut suntan lotion and a dramatic turban are a must in our Leona-inspired dreams.

Frockwriter’s Patty Huntington captured some stunning images from the show as you can see below.

As did Marie Claire magazine. Read their review here. They even persuaded M.A.C’s make-up artist to reveal how to recreate the presentation’s beauty looks.

We have fallen for the antique style porcelain print and vivid lips. Now onto the impending RAFW as we keep a keen eye on Hussy, Lisa Ho, Zimmermann and Manning Cartell as they present their latest wares.

Weekend Style – All that Jazz

Watching Caroline O’Connor perform a medley of musical tunes at the Racing In Style Ladies’ Luncheon today inspired us to look towards the Jazz era with a touch of art deco style for our last minute Cox Plate outfits. This versatile look could easily be translated for next week’s Derby Day also with its black and white traditions.

Zimmermann’s ‘Bittersweet Nightshade’ arrives

The title of the Spring Summer 09/10 collection. “Bittersweet Nightshade” from Zimmermann says it all. Inspired by the seductive but dangerous flower; the collection is full of statement, darkly floral pieces as well as some familiar Zimmermann details like laced up cut-outs and one-piece swimsuits. While showing at the recent Australian Fashion Week, Nicky Zimmermann said the collection was about playing with “hardness” of the Nightshade plant’s toxicity versus the “softness” of its blooms. The first lot from the collection has just arrived in-store. Our pick would be the ‘Nightshade Laser Chain Swing Top’ at left. The bold collection, while not suited to wallflowers, is made easy to wear by the fact that the pieces can just be thrown on with no adornment and still look like a finished outfit.
