Pop-up Gallery at Postal Lane
Bi-annual print publication JANE has partnered with Melbourne’s GPO to bring a pop-up laneway gallery to life on Postal Lane during Shop the City.
The laneway gallery will present the work of 12 of these creatives, created during Melbourne’s extended lockdown, and compliment the issue eight print edition where the works of 30 artists are published. Jane Magazine Issue Eight containing submitted works is available for purchase here.
The creative industry has been amongst the hardest hit as theatres, galleries, performance spaces and studios closed their doors, switched off their stage lights and ceased rehearsals – some permanently, as a result of COVID-19.
From challenge comes opportunity, and the founders of JANE set out to keep Victorian creatives creating by putting out an open call and sharing their platform to publish, promote and share the works. Hundreds of creatives from many disciplines and levels of experience submitted their work and a reflection of their experience of lockdown.
From 27 November – 11 December, come explore art created from time spent at home and revel at the creativity that has emerged from our city in the free Postal Lane Pop-Up Gallery, located at Melbourne’s GPO (enter via Little Bourke Street).
